Uluru, widely known as Ayers Rock is one of the major tourist attractions in Australia. There is bus service to the park from Alice Springs but realistically you should probably plan on driving to get there.

The best times to visit Uluru are the spring or the fall when it is not too hot or too cold. The summer is unbearably hot while the winter can be quite chilly. Regardless of when you go you are going to have to make sure that you have plenty of supplies as the weather can change very suddenly and you may get stuck out there as the rain can make the roads impassable.
