the fayetteville thrift sitch has turned out to be second only to phoenix. i dropped way more credit card than i was anticipating at cheap thrills, and fell in love with the superbly-styled girl working the counter there, named emily smith. turns out she just had an article on the shop published in the current edition of the fayetteville free weekly.
i didn’t take this picture. i stole it from the sweet article about cheap thrills
that i’m imploring you to read.
(the article is pretty sweet. you should read it.) it also turns out that she designs some pretty sweet jewelry, but i didn’t find this out until i picked a piece up at an entirely different shop and was informed by the owner that it was made by “the sweetest local designer, emily smith.”
honestly, i’ve never met an emily i didn’t like end up loving.
i know we’re way overdue for some thrift photos, but it’s hard to tear ones-self away from the constant fun of Road Trip and pull out the ol’ camera equipment.
that’s actually a lie. i just haven’t showered in over 72 hours, i’ve lost my deodorant, and i’m scared my man-smell will somehow leak through my photographs and scare you away.
whatevs. pictures coming soon. i promise.
i did get a picture of the Best Fayetteville Thrift Store Sign though:

they aren’t kidding either. i opened that restroom door and there were walkers piled to the ceiling. who does that?
anyway, just to tease you with my lack of photos, what’s the best piece i’ve found while fayetteville thrifting so far? oh man… it’s a toss-up between the mint condition ’60s wedding dress with the tags still on and the slew of brightly colored mod shoes i procured at cheap thrills. bet you can’t wait to see ‘em…

I’ve darkened the door of Cheap Thrills many times, with a wrinkled $10 bill in my hand. And The Attic? You went there as well? I want to see a picture of that 60’s wedding dress!

How funny, what made you decide to come to Fayetteville? I grew up there and have been thrifting at Cheap Thrills since I was 10 (I now live in Chicago but the store is still on the top of my to-do list whenever I come home!)

leilani – it’s a long story
amber has a good friend (barrie) who lived in fayetteville, (possibly grew up there? now i’m not sure!) anyway, she knew some awesome people in fayetteville, so we made it a destination. turns out she was right – fayetteville – and more importantly, the people we stayed with/met while we were there, were AWESOME. oh, and the thrifting was pretty rad too
